Bei Wechselstromspulen ist die Stromaufnahme in der Anzugphase deutlich höher als in der Haltephase.
Diese dürfen deshalb nie ohne Magnetkern betrieben werden, da dann die Gefahr der Überhitzung besteht und die Spule durchbrennen kann.
Ein ähnlicher Effekt tritt ein, wenn Ventile mit Wechselstrommagneten mit sehr hohen Taktfrequenzen (Ein / Aus) betrieben werden. Damit befinden sich die Spulen oft im Bereich der hohen Stromaufnahme und können ebenfalls überhitzen. Für diese Anwendungsfälle empfiehlt sich der Einsatz von RC – Spulen mit Gleichrichterstecker.
Bei Gleichspannungsspulen kann es beim Abschaltvorgang zu sehr hohen Spannungsspitzen kommen. Wir empfehlen deshalb bei diesen Spulen den Einsatz von Steckern mit Schutzbeschaltung.
